Explaining the Percentage Increase
Starting from January 1st, 2024, the legal minimum wage will be based on hourly wages rather than the previous monthly rate. Previously, the legal minimum wage was calculated based on the number of hours worked, resulting in a 5.5% higher hourly wage for an employee working 36 hours compared to one working 38 hours (as is customary in the hospitality sector). As of January 1st, 2024, the legal minimum wage will be established on the basis of 36 hours of work, leading to an overall increase in the legal minimum wage.
Impact on employers
For employers, the increase in the minimum wage may necessitate adjustments to their wage structures. It is crucial to inform employees of these changes and ensure they receive the new minimum wage
